When the Sigma lens is mounted on either APS-C body, there seems to be a nice balance ergonomically friendly, fun to use. Tried the lens on my K-1 and it just seems to lack luster its a no-go. The K-3 III does seems "brighter" due to the improved viewfinder design. That being said, can't say there was noticeable performance difference between the two camera bodies. Added the K-3 III (during the CoVid restrictions) which unfortunately has limited the type of activity where this lens would "shine". To manage this aspect, now always shoot on spot AF. Found auto focus issues related to the shallow depth of field. Can't say I had general focusing issues with the possible exception when shooting wide open. Similarly the intended use was for low-light events with consideration for full-length portrait coverage (replacing a Tamron 17-50 2.8 with which I was less than enamored.probably a bad copy). The Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Lens for Pentax is a wide-angle to normal-length zoom lens that features a fast, bright constant f/1.8 maximum aperture. On release, was attracted to the Sigma 18-35 due to the large aperture related capabilities. If you end up springing for the 18-35, I'd love to know how you get on. It also depends on what you need the lense for. In any case, I agree, that it's a good chunk of change to spend on a lens that might not perform that well from an AF standpoint. Firstly, what camera are you going to fit these lenses to, secondly, one of the sharpest 17-50 F/2.8 lenses is the Tamron but the Sigma is good to. It works quite well with my Pentax DA 18-135 so I know that this body has the potential to work well.
